Building Permit Coordinator at Jönköping Municipality

Your new job

As a building permit coordinator, you will have a coordinating role.

Together with your colleagues, you will handle both administrative tasks and provide support and advice to residents and businesses. You are often the first point of contact in the building permit process for a planned construction project.

Part of your new job involves handling various administrative tasks in the building permit process, such as registering incoming documents, issuing decisions, and providing archive documents. You may also need to compile statistics.

Another part of your responsibilities involves working with support and advice. You will develop the information on our website and ensure that it complies with laws and regulations. You will coordinate meetings where residents have the opportunity to meet with the building permit department and ask questions regarding their planned construction projects.

Your work will also include responding to incoming inquiries via email, phone, and in meetings. This means you need to be able to explain the building permit process, guide residents and businesses correctly, and understand various questions the customers have. A significant portion of the inquiries we receive are complex. This requires you to collaborate with colleagues and gather facts before you can respond.

Your qualifications

We are looking for someone with a university degree in civil engineering or another relevant education, such as a building permit officer. We also want you to have at least a couple of years of work experience, preferably within public administration as an officer or coordinator.

It is an advantage if you have experience with the legislation that is the basis for our area of operation, such as the Planning and Building Act, the Administrative Procedure Act, and the Public Access to Information and Secrecy Act.

Since a large part of the work involves contacts both internally and externally, good service and a positive attitude are a given for you. You are attentive, calm, and factual. You also need to be skilled in communicating in both spoken and written Swedish.

As a person, you are good at collaborating, self-driven, and have a structured working method. You are meticulous and want high quality in your work. You have the interest, willingness, and desire to help others and actively seek solutions. To thrive in the role of coordinator, you need to be interested in developing working methods and see it as a given to work digitally.

In the building permit department, we are about 30 people of varying ages working together to provide excellent service to both individuals and businesses. You will be part of a team with several colleagues who largely have the same tasks as you.

Good to know

The recruitment is for a permanent position starting by agreement.

Selection and interviews will be conducted after the application period ends. The first round of interviews is planned to take place at the end of week 51. In the recruitment process, we will conduct tests and work samples as a complement to the employment interview.
